Libertarian view on the port deal...

Jim Rose is always a good read.

Turns out the "political groundswell" of Democrats and some Republicans in Congress was not the result of national security, but in fact the almighty dollar. The Miami port operator Eller & Co. has filed a lawsuit to try and stop the UAE buyout of P&O fearing it would "endanger" their operations. Thus, Eller sent a team of lobbyist to D.C. to turn the screws. The MSM got it wrong yet again. (Hat tip: UJ)

Mardi Gras Drinking Game

Michelle Malkin posted a great picture of some folks at Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Google Could Tank

Today Google watched its stock head to the floor. Well, it wasn't huge but it sure as heck wasn't fun for any of us hoping for better.

I've been noticing a LOT of negative comments on Google across the web. This website for example really gives it to them and sometimes I can't fully disagree with the opinions written there.

I've had my frustrations with Google, but overall we get to run free blogs (I prefer wordpress but that's another story)and the search still beats the shit out of MSN for quality of results. Plus, Adsense still pays pretty well compared to the others. I've flirted with Yahoo Ads on a few of my sites but Google still pays most of my internet income by far.

I hope they can pull out of this and get the numbers back to an upward slant.

McCain and The GOP Ticket

I don't like McCain, but I have to admit he may be a big player on the GOP ticket in 2008. I was reading about CPAC, the conservative political action committee, and was quite surprised to see that he was the leader in a poll taken of attendees to the latest convention in DC. With this being one of the biggest gathering of conservatives from the right, this poll kinda gives us some clues as to who the right is looking at.

A few months ago I would have bought into the idea that the GOP would have to run someone from the "center" to meet Clinton in the middle, but Hillary has gone about as far left as you can get so that idea went out the window with some quickness. I think she realized that her funding was going to come from the far left groups like MoveOn.org and Soros. Dean has been spending more than he raises so the DNC certainly isn't going to be able to give much financially.

Both tickets will be interesting to watch.

P.S. When will the Libertarians fix the flaws in the party platform and start winning some races?

Why do lefties react the way they do?

Actually, both sides are guilty of this, but the left really gets angry over very little.

Take Rob, our friend over "With Eyes Closed", for example. He really went ballistic all because I disagreed with him in public. God forbid we actually have a difference of opinion.

Seriously though, the difference in the left and the right is that the right seems to at least try and debate content, where as those on the left just instantly get steamed and start spewing assumptions and names that are completely irrelevant. I think both sides need a lot of work, but there is certainly not going to be any progress made as long as the left keeps on its path of anger towards anyone who would dare question their opinions.

Rob, it really isn't that big of a deal. My blog sucks, and I think yours does as well. I'm not trying to lift myself above you in any way shape or form, I'm merely trying to share my opinion with anyone who may want to read it.

Is that so hard to grasp? You talk shit about the opinions of those you disagree with. Well, so do I. I respect you and your right to an opinion, but I also respect myself and my right to disagree with it. Seems a simple logic yet you refuse to adhere to it.

Anyway back on topic...

This just goes to show why the debate of ideas will possibly never take place between the left and the right. You have people on the left attacking anyone who would disagree with the stances they take. On the other side you have the right and the single issues which they refuse to budge on.

The right I can live with because at least they stick to the issue and don't blast you for having a different view, but the left... some work needs to be done there.

EVERYONE, I repeat, EVERYONE has a right to opinion. It may not be an opinion you like, but that's life. Grow up and live with it. The rest of us have.

"With Eyes Closed" Case Closed

Poor Rob, he gave up early on so the wrestling match will have to end a bit shy of the desired timeframe. Oh well, life goes on.

BUT, let's make sure we point out the truths here. Rob makes A good point.

You make a living blogging??? Your blog is so full of spelling errors and bad usage/grammar (not to mention that 90% of your blog is merely quoting other blogs or sources), are you going to tell me someone PAYS you to do this? Riiiiight....

Finally something comes out of the great robster that I can agree with. My grammer sucks and I don't really take time to check my spelling. Oh the pain!

Am I going to tell you I get paid to blog? I already did, Rob. I guess you're so caught up in assumptions that you don't have time to actually BELIEVE someone. Are you also ASSuming that this is my only blog?

I worked at a newspaper for eight years, bro. I know bad, biased writing when I see it. When I post my opinions, it is on public matters, I don't bash other people's blogs, regardless of whether I agree with them or not. I guess that just makes me slightly more human than you.

Actually, it just makes us different. In case you haven't noticed, we're both human. :-)

And what the fuck business of yours is it whether I vote or not? Ask thousands of African-American Democrats in Florida if they vote and see if you don't get a ballot shoved up your ass. Believe whatever you want, dude, but in the Presidential Erection, your vote means SHIT, and if you're deluded enough to think it does, you're the one who needs the "can of reality," whatever the fuck that means.

There ya have it folks! Rob just wants to bitch and moan. Nevermind actually MAKING A DIFFERENCE. Hell let's just all give up trying to actually do something about our current affairs and just bitch and moan and cry and wine.

Real winner there Rob.

Like I said, this is the last you will hear from me.

Like I said folks... case closed.

So the bottom line is this. I found a post with which I disagreed with, I posted my dissagreements and my opinion that the original comment was "shit", and Rob comes back crying because someone actually checked him.

By the way Rob, why do you censor your comments? Oh wait, we heard the last from you.

Well, I'll take pleasure in watching your progress. Lefties are always fun when the panties end up tangled.

Brokeback To The Future

From the producers of Bareback Mountain...

Is the Review Journal's Stance on Port Deal Wrong?

The Review-Journal Watch seems to think so...

Port Controversy Not About Free Market Economics

The RJ today ran an Editorial supporting selling the operations at multiple US ports to a company owned by the government of the United Arab Emirates.

The RJ points to free market economics as their grounds for why the port deal should go forward. They contend that if a foreign British corporation can own the port operations as a result of foreign investment the same should be true for a corporation from the United Arab Emirates. We would love to go into a Sherman Frederick style offshoot and talk about Republicans and how they do not practice free market economics, but alas, that will have to wait for some other time.

To start with there is one large difference between Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co and Dubai Ports. The P & O Group is a full private corporation whereas Dubai Ports is owned by the government of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE on a whole is a more moderate Middle-Eastern State. However, given today's geopolitical climate and its relation to the War on Terrorism it's easy to see why Democrats and some Republicans have expressed concern.

Oh boy... we've got a blog wrestling match!

Rob, Rob, Rob...

I was going to leave you alone but you had to go and dig yourself in. Hope you have a comfy couch and no need for sleep.

Where do we start? Our lefty friend says so much yet covers so little.

Let's start with a quote of his post:

Our first stalker
You know you've hit the big time when:

You have your first stalker! Apparently "With Eyes Closed" has struck a nerve with some wacko out there in Bloggerland, and this person has started their own blog with no apparent purpose other than to criticize me and my blog! Apologies to those who would like to read it, I refuse to give this person the attention they are craving from myself and my readers.

Suffice to say, this person is obviously someone I know. They have some issue with me and my views, yet refuse to give out their 'true' identity, in fact they revel in the fact that they can say whatever they want "in secrecy."

Well, there's no secrecy here. I'm out front, in full view. I say what I think and am not afraid to let my identity be known. This person's obvious cowardice and lack of conviction only serve to lend even less credence to whatever point it is they're trying to make.

This person read my post about Pepsi's "Brown and Bubbly" ad campaign and went off on how I know nothing about marketing because here I was discussing it, so hey, their campaign worked! Stalker, read it again, but this time try to dredge up something you've obviously lost somewhere along the way: humor. I don't question whether their campaign worked or not... plenty of people will probably keep drinking their brown and bubbly poison. My point was that it was pretty amusing that their campaign sought to liken their product with something that comes out of my ass after a bad burrito. It's FUNNY, in my opinion, and this blog is about MY OPINION.

Hey, Stalker, here are a few things to keep in mind: this blog is a place for me to express myself. My thoughts, my opinions. Anyone who makes it their mission in life to attack someone because of their opinions and observations only exposes him/herself as a coward and an idiot. If you'd like to debate and discuss things intelligently, then by all means show yourself and let's have at it. However, after reading the few posts on your blog, I doubt that intelligent discussion is something you're capable of.

Continue hiding and trying to give the appearance of intelligence while you witlessly throw insults at people who are happily living their own lives and expressing their own views. If I do know you, and I do see you and consider you a friend (why else would you choose me of all people to latch onto?), then shame on you for being a liar and a coward. Eventually, all things hidden are exposed to the light.

Stalker? I drop into your blog based on a search I did on Technorati, disagreed with your comments, and then opined as I have every right to do, and you call me a stalker? Now I took a guess at how you would have reacted but I was quite off on the words that may have been used. I will, however, give you credit for being creative.

Ok wait a minute Rob... are you trying to take credit for this blog??? Dude, you just so happened to be my first couple of posts. That's it that's all! I gave you some credit for the stalker comment, but you're not getting brownie points for this paragraph.

Suffice to say, this person is obviously someone I know. They have some issue with me and my views, yet refuse to give out their 'true' identity, in fact they revel in the fact that they can say whatever they want "in secrecy."

Rest assured, you don't know me and God knows I've never met you.

Well, there's no secrecy here. I'm out front, in full view. I say what I think and am not afraid to let my identity be known. This person's obvious cowardice and lack of conviction only serve to lend even less credence to whatever point it is they're trying to make.

No shit on your first sentence. And the point I DID make is clearly stated in my earlier posts about your comments. I would like to add that you failed to dispute both posts. Not that I care, just making another point.

It's FUNNY, in my opinion, and this blog is about MY OPINION.

ummm... I did read the full post. In fact, I took a close look at it as outlined in the post on this blog. Humor was not at all lost. I laughed quite a bit and am still chuckling at the mere thought.

Of course your blog is about YOUR OPINION. Which makes it even more true that I shouldn't have to point out that my posts are MY OPINION.

Seriously...

Rob, hopefully you don't really expect me to comment on that sad little paragraph. You again assume that I set up a blog to specifically target YOU. How about this... If YOU wish to debate then HAVE AT IT, Rob! I've disputed your opinion here in public. Anyone who can read can read it. You haven't at all attempted to debate my points; Rather, you instantly resorted to name calling and baseless assumptions.

Keep reaching for that can of reality. You need a few sprays.

So let me get this straight, Rob. You are free to speak freely about anyone you wish yet when someone turns around and does the same to you the world is at an end?

I can't stand most of what Bush does. Most of his policies discust me. Yet you posted this:
There was a time when I thought the look on George W.'s face was that of innocence and sincerity. That passed (thankfully), and I came to regard the President's expression as one of arrogance. "I'm going to do whatever I want, and there's nothing you can do to stop me. After all, my daddy's the Presid- wait, hey... I'M the President!"

I think perhaps the expression we're all so used to seeing, and that we're all constantly trying to figure out, is really one of complete and utter fear. He's not good at looking into the camera and lying bold-faced to the world like Daddy Bush was. Daddy could convince us to trust him, he at least gave the impression that he knew what he was talking about. Little George just doesn't have it in him.

Whenever he has to go in front of a camera, especially in unscripted moments where he may be forced to think on his feet and give the appearance of wisdom and intelligence, his expression belies his terror that the facade may all come crumbling down. It's a horrible way to live, if you think about it.

He doesn't belong in the political "big leagues," lacks the confidence and charisma to be an effective "President," but he knows just enough about the way the world really is to be scared completely shitless.

Nothing wrong with that. It is afterall, your honest opinion on Bush.

So I ask you, Rob. What did I do that is so different? I disagree with you, you make your opinions public, so I publically disagree with you.

I blog for a living so I've got all night. I'm on a wireless sprint card with 3 back up batteries and will gladly debate you night and day if that is your wish. When you speak your mind in the public arena of ideas, be prepared for people to come along and dispute them.

No need to cry about it...

Conservatives Support the Port Deal?

Well I'll be damned!

A blog who is apparently a member of the "Battle Born Bloggers" seems to lean to the right and is openly in support of the Port deal that is giving the Prez such a headache.

LibertyJustInCase.com says Quote:
Amazing wouldn’t you say, for a company that is SOOOO dangerous, to submit voluntarily to an extra security check, just to ease the growing political tensions…

This is the type of ally UAE and DPW have been all along…

Like I said last week, UAE and Qatar both bend over backwards for us.

At least this appears to be a good compromise solution for once, and should put this issue to bed… Finally.

Interesting indeed...

"I'm Just a Girl" just speaks her mind on Michelle Malkin

and I dig it!

I really get tired of people basing opinions on political bias. "I'm Just a Girl" is a breathe of fresh air because she looks at Michelle Malkin from an open minded perspective and removes all bias from her opinion. This is what we need more of in this state.

Michelle Malkin
By mel

I caught Michelle Malkin on C-Span’s BookTV, mostly because I was laying in bed flipping channels in the middle of the night and saw her name on the screen and stopped to listen. She was speaking at Oberlin college.

Although I’m not a Michelle Malkin fanatic, visiting her blog everyday, I do stop by occasionally and pretty much agree with most everything she writes. I’ve never heard her speak before the BookTV thing, but I must say that she kept me interested.

One thing she said that seemed to get a few people in the audience pissed off, and I’m paraphrasing here, was that black people in America experience less racism now than they did in the 40’s and 50’s. Or actually, she TRIED to say that, and had to rephrase it when one person in the audience really got bent out of shape. But I agree with her.

How can you NOT agree with that? Do you think Rosa Parks would agree with it? I think she would. After all, Mrs. Parks wasn’t arrested in this decade for sitting in a “non-colored” section of the bus. She wasn’t arrested in the 90’s or even in the 80’s, either. There are no more segregated buses. That alone would make me say that although racism does now and will always exist in America, it is not as bad now as it once was. In fact, there are no segregated water fountains, restrooms, restaurants, etc in this country anymore, either. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Let’s not forget about education and job opportunities. How can so MANY people disagree that racism isn’t as bad now? read the rest

Read Michelle Malkins blog to get a full grasp of her views.

More on our friend Rob...

I'm loving this new blog. I'm so excited I don't know where to start.

I know you may find it to be a bit harsh, but I need to pick on Rob a little more. You see, Rob runs a blog here in Nevada and I can't help but think if it were a newspaper I would line the bird cage with it, but it's not so I'll just expose it for what it is... shit.

The post I'm going after now is a little ditty Rob jotted down about Pepsi and it's brilliant marketing decision on the "brown and Bubbly" angle. It quickly become apparent that Rob knows nothing about marketing because he fed right into the marketing consultants plans. What is the goal of most marketing plans? To get people talking about you of course! Did the "Brown and Bubbly" campaign succeed? You bet it did! Our friend Rob is living proof of that.

Robs post goes like this:
Brown and Bubbly?
http://www.brownandbubbly.com/

Is that really the image you're looking to conjure with Diet Pepsi? Is brown a word that ought to ever appear in any advertising campaign, or ever be associated with any product? Tell you what, there's really only one thing I associate with brown and it ain't too pleasant. But "Brown and Bubbly"? Are you looking to make people vomit whenever they drink your product? As if there weren't already enough reasons to stay away from Diet Pepsi...

By the way, what can brown (and bubbly) do for you?

Actually, this post is making me thirsty. Damn you diet Pepsi!

"With Eyes Closed" needs to open them

This guy "Rob Weidenfeld" is more hilarious than a re-run of Simpsons after a 12 pack of micro brews and a jumbo sized doobie.

I'm still giggling at his ignorance...

I have to admit that I'm still for some reason amazed at how naive some people are. My guess is that this guy doesn't vote and thank God for that if it's true.

He has a post on his blog, With Eyes Closed, called "You're living in a fascist empire". Let's take a close look at his "brilliant finding".

Doubt that America is becoming or has become a fascist empire? Check out history professor Carolyn Baker's article "Hello, you are now living in a fascist empire" here: http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/BAK411A.html

It's a pretty interesting and informative article that touches on a lot of hot points: peak oil, 9/11, rigged elections, and the future of our once-great nation. I sure hope we as a citizenry wake up and take action before it's too late.

Sentence #1:
Doubt that America is becoming or has become a fascist empire?

ummmm... NO.

Sentence #2:
Check out history professor Carolyn Baker's article "Hello, you are now living in a fascist empire"

I read it about 8 minutes ago and only just stopped laughing. you think CAROLYN BAKER is a voice to be listened to??? LMAO! Man you need to get out of your shack and reach for a handful of reality!

For one, Carolyn Baker says quote
What they also don't get is that there isn't going to be a 2008—well yes, there will be a 2008, but it is highly unlikely that it will include a presidential election
GASP! There isn't going to be an election in 2008? WOW! What a newsworthy story we have here! Call CNN, call CBS, where is FOX News? Carolyn Baker has just predicted the future and Rob believes it so it MUST BE TRUE!!!

This cracks me up...

Baker goes on to say
What few people in America understand, despite the astute observations of millions of individuals around the world, is that we are living in an empire, and we are no longer living in a democracy.

Yeah, that's why we're all here BLOGGING SHIT ABOUT OUR GOVERNMENT RIGHT? Because we're under an evil empire that doesn't allow us to be free right?

Give me a break.

Want more from the author of Rob Weidenfeld's beaming light of truth?

Start with these:

Just Google Baker and you'll quickly find out what you need to know about Robs choice of role models.

Towards the end of the first sentence of the second paragraph of Robs little moment of truth he says
and the future of our once-great nation.
Rob, do you mean the "oh so terrible" nation that allows you to hurl insults upon it? Do you mean the sickening nation that allowed your friend Baker to become wealthy?

Finally Rob gives us an end to his madness with this:
I sure hope we as a citizenry wake up and take action before it's too late.

One question Rob... do you vote? Because that's the only way you and I can make a difference. Sitting on your coutch bitching does nothing for your country or your message.

First post here...

New blog, new face, new feel, new freedom.

You don't know who I am and you'll probably never know, but what is important is that my message can now get out "uncensored". I can now come here for some relief and express myself withour fear of what some asshole, biased, crooked politician is going to say or do.

I don't know how you found me, but I hope you enjoy my rants.
